data-mm-id=”_wlbwn9quu”>The Miami Dolphins traveled to Germany earlier this week as they prepare to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Frankfurt on Sunday morning, which will easily be the best NFL game that has taken place overseas to date. The Dolphins flew out on Monday and spent a few days getting acclimated before speaking to reporters on Wednesday morning. Mike McDaniel, ever the jokester, came to his presser prepared with an opener joke to make the international group in front of him laugh. And boy, did it not work. McDaniel made a crack about how he looks bigger in person and there was not a single laugh. You can very faintly hear a pity chuckle in the back but it may as well have been dead silent. He tried a follow-up, got nothing, and moved on. Mike McDaniel — in Germany pic.twitter.com/mJD5uN6mc5— Daniel Oyefusi (@DanielOyefusi) November 1, 2023We have confirmation yet again that the stereotype of the stoic German is not at all off base. Next time he should try it in the vernacular of the country he's in. Maybe it'll land then. Points to McDaniel for plowing ahead undeterred with his second joke. Nothing worse than stewing in the air of silence after a flat joke. Persistence is key for an NFL head coach.

Bayern Munich are reportedly keen to keep hold of Alphonso Davies, who has been of strong interest to Real Madrid and a number of other clubs across Europe. However, the talks between the Canada international and the Bundesliga champions have become complicated , according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany.
The 23-year-old left-back is apparently demanding a salary of €10-13 million per year to put pen to paper, and Bayern, not being entirely satisfied with his performances this season, aren t willing to pay him that much. And unless he lowers his demands, the Bavarians would potentially be willing to put him on the market at the end of the season, which obviously suits Real Madrid very much.
Davies current contract with Bayern expires in the summer of 2025, which…
Ollie Watkins has praised Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery for helping him get back in the England squad.
The striker returned to the international scene for the first time since March 2022 and hit the only goal of the game as England beat Australia 1-0 in a Wembley friendly on Friday night.
Watkins, 27, has scored four goals and provided four assists in the first eight Premier League games of the new season – including a memorable hat-trick against Brighton.
He had scored just twice last campaign before Emery was appointed as Steven Gerrard’s successor in November but then hit 14 in 26 matches following the Spaniard’s arrival at Villa Park.
Asked how it felt to return to the England set-up following time out of the squad, Watkins said: “I think …
Marta is dreaming of reaching the Women s World Cup final, though the Brazil star is wary of defending champions the United States and Australia.
Brazil will be led by six-time FIFA World Player of the Year and captain Marta in France, where the Selecao will come up against one of the pre-tournament favourites Australia, Jamaica and Italy in Group C.
Marta and Brazil were World Cup runners-up in 2007, with the three-time reigning Copa America Femenina champions beaten in the round of 16 four years ago, having reached the 2011 quarter-finals.
All eyes will be on star-studded USA and Australia but Marta – who has scored the most World Cup goals with 15 – told Omnisport: We can t focus just on one or two teams anymore.

Jordan Pickford s incredible injury-time error handed Divock Origi a scarcely believable Merseyside derby winner as Liverpool claimed a dramatic 1-0 Premier League victory over Everton.
Everton had produced an admirable performance and could have ended their infamous Anfield hoodoo had they taken one of their numerous first-half chances, but just as it looked as if they had done enough for a point, Liverpool snatched all three in stunning circumstances.
Trent Alexander-Arnold saw his long punt forward cleared as far as Virgil van Dijk, whose skewed long-range effort appeared to be heading for the top of the crossbar, only for Pickford to inexplicably palm it back into the air, the ball then bouncing off the woodwork and into the path of substitute Origi, who had the si…
According to a recent report from Bild, Bayern Munich are planning on allowing Ivan Perisic to head back to Inter Milan at the end of the season as opposed to trying to sign him on a permanent basis.
While he has proved to be a decent asset for Bayern, it doesn’t appear as if he’s done enough to warrant the German giants paying the big bucks in order to bring him in on a permanent deal.
The question will now be whether or not Inter Milan are willing to make room in their starting XI for Perisic, or whether they’ll look to send him straight back out on loan – or perhaps sell him altogether.
The latter seems a little bit drastic but it all comes down to the value that they see in Perisic. He’s good, but he may not necessarily be at the sort of elit…
Uncertainty around David de Gea s future could have come to hurt Manchester United, according to former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, who is relieved the player has extended his contract.
Last week, the Spain international signed a new four-year deal, with the option of a fifth year, to bring an end to speculation over his commitment to the club.
United had been faced with the prospect of losing De Gea on a free transfer in 2020 if they had not agreed to fresh terms, with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Real Madrid all linked with the 28-year-old.
Former United star Schmeichel thinks the extension is a major boost to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is now able to concentrate on other concerns within the squad.
Finally he signed the contract because it…
Luis Enrique has returned to the role of Spain coach and will lead the 2010 world champions at Euro 2020.
The former Barcelona and Roma boss began a leave of absence in March and officially resigned in June as his young daughter, Xana, battled bone cancer. She died in August.
Robert Moreno replaced Luis Enrique and won each of his three matches while overseeing the team in a caretaker capacity and recorded a further four wins and two draws after stepping into the position on a permanent basis.
However, Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales confirmed on Tuesday that Luis Enrique will re-assume charge of the two-time European champions, and rejected any talk of the governing body mismanaging the situation.

Thomas Tuchel declared he would be very angry if any of Chelsea s rivals unjustly take advantage of the Premier League s COVID-19 emergency postponement rules.
The Chelsea head coach was left frustrated in December when an application to have the Blues game against Wolves postponed after a rash of positive cases in Tuchel s squad was turned down.
On that occasion, a weakened Chelsea team battled to a 0-0 draw at Molineux, and Tuchel insists he has always made every effort to field a side during the pandemic.
