Jose Mourinho has left Real Madrid for Chelsea to escape Spanish media pressure, according to football journalist Tim Stannard.

The Spain-based reporter believes Mourinho has left the Spanish giants because he did not enjoy the intense scrutiny which accompanies the hot-seat at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Mourinho will now begin his second spell in charge of Chelsea, where he won successive English Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006, before leaving just two months into the 2007/08 campaign, reportedly following a falling out with billionaire Russian owner Roman Abramovich.

Liverpool F.C. defender Kolo Toure is reportedly considering his future after being offered a new one-year deal at Anfield.

According to reports, the former Côte d Ivoire international, who retired from international football after winning the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, wants to stay on Merseyside but is hoping to secure a two-year contract.

Footballers generally get given a hard time by the media and are often viewed as lazy, stupid and greedy by members of the public. (I stand by my observation on Dimitar Berbatov, he may well not be greedy or stupid, but lazy…!)

Figures released by the English Premier League on Monday covering the period October 1, 2008 to September 30 2009, showed City, backed by the wealth of UAE-based owner Sheikh Mansour, led the top flight in agent fees spending with an outlay of 12,874,283 pounds (21,411,165 dollars).

Roy Keane will reassess his role as Republic of Ireland assistant manager after Euro 2016 as he still harbours hopes of a return to club management.
