Chelsea now looking at Burnley’s Barnes

Chelsea are eyeing a move for Burnley forward Ashley Barnes, according to Sky Sports.

The reigning Premier League champions have been linked with a number of frontmen over the past week as they look for further support to Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuyai.

Stoke City’s Peter Crouch and Andy Carroll of West Ham United have also been on their radar, and now they are looking at Barnes though contact between the clubs have not yet been made.

The twenty-eight year old has appeared in all but one of the Clarets’ twenty-four league games so far this season though only eight of those outings have come from the start.

In total, Barnes has played one hundred and twenty-two times for Burnley, scoring eighteen goals since signing from Brighton and Hove Albion halfway through the 2013/14 campaign.

Internationally, he was capped once for Austira’s U20s in 2008 and has expressed a desire to feature for their senior side, for whom he qualifies through a paternal grandparent.
